What are past lives?
When I was a pre-teen, one of my favorite shows to watch was Unsolved Mysteries, a show about the paranormal, extraterrestrial, and events that warranted no scientific explanation. I recall one specific episode that has tuck with me over 20 years later. In this episode, two parents were telling the investigator about memories their child kept having. This child was fascinated with a famous actor from the early 1900s. This child was so fascinated, in fact, that he would ask to go to the library to check out books about that era. On their first trip to the library, while browsing a book of famous actors, the child found a particular page, pointed to the picture of an actor, and said, “that’s me, mommy! I used to be him.”
Past lives are based on the basic premise that a soul lives many lifetimes. Under this philosophy, most of us have lived many lifetimes (well, our souls have) and will continue to live many more lifetimes unlike a physical body which only lives its one lifetime before dying.
What Is Past Life Trauma?
Past life trauma is, quite simply, trauma that occurred in a past life.
How do I Uncover My Past Life Trauma?
There are several ways:
- Through altered states of consciousness and having a shaman or guide facilitate your journey
- Through a medium like an Akashic records reader
- Going deep into a theta brainwave state and doing a past life regression with a hypnotherapist.
in both psychological and shamanic understanding, soul loss is a form of dissociation where so much trauma has happened that parts of the soul break off and become detached from the core. Soul loss can be at the root of many forms of physical and mental illness (Ingerman, 1991).
How do I Heal My Past Life Trauma?
Healing past life trauma is best done with the help of experts. This does not always mean a therapist, though it can. If you are suffering from depression and anxiety, you may be suffering from a soul loss (Minjares, 2016). It can be healed by a process called a soul retrieval where fragmented parts of the soul are called back home (Ingerman, 1991; Harner, 2013).
If a full soul retrieval is not needed, often times the Akashic records reader can also perform an energy clearing ceremony that helps rebalance your chakras and fortify your aura, all of which are very healing. Traditional therapists can also help process and integrate the trauma from a past life – often times, though, you will need to come to them with the trauma of a past life. And in some cases, some therapy modalities like EFT do not require you to know the trauma, only what you wish to heal and release.
